Assistant IP Manager (fixed term for two years)

We have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our enthusiastic and committed team and to play a key role in our success. The purpose of this 2-year fixed-term post is to assist the IP Manager with the University of Leeds’ IP portfolio and commercial opportunity (‘IOD’) processes. This will include particularly IP due diligence and management of projects from initial contact with researchers through to deal completion, whether licensing or spin-out formation. Also included is supporting the management of the University’s process for new commercial opportunities including drafting and negotiation of IP-related contracts and providing IP advice and support as appropriate.
You will be expected to demonstrate a strong interest in, and to develop their skills and knowledge of, IP and commercialisation matters. A technical background would be an advantage. You will be responsible for supporting the assessment and management of IP development projects and also support applications for development funds, and to support the IP Manager in all aspects of the role.
You will have confident and strong interpersonal skills plus the ability to build successful relationships both internal and external to the University. Conduct and manage research into the strengths, weaknesses and capabilities of HEIs in the SE region.
Work closely with and provide support to the managers of FDI and Strategic Account Management functions on HEI related issues.
Ensure that the team is responsive to changes in the macroeconomic environment and to technical, commercial and political changes in the industry sector. Advising where to refine and adjust the strategy to compensate for these changes.
